MLB Team Speaks Out After Player Posts Video Of Christian Preacher Trashing Islam
The Toronto Blue Jays issued a statement after outfielder Anthony Santander appeared to repost anti-Muslim videos on Instagram following the 2026 midterm elections. The posts prompted criticism, and the team said they did not represent its values, while reaffirming that it aims to make all fans feel welcome.
The reported clips referred to Michigan senator-elect Abdul El-Sayed and included claims that Islam is violent and “not peaceful”; they were later removed. El-Sayed won 52 per cent of the vote against Republican Mike Rogers, who received 45 per cent, and will become the first Muslim American elected to the US Senate.
