David Bailey returns from injury for biggest Jets test yet against Patrick Mahomes
David Bailey is expected to return from a groin injury as the Jets face the Kansas City Chiefs, giving a struggling defence a boost ahead of a difficult test against Patrick Mahomes. The Jets have lost three straight games, allowing at least 26 points in each, and coach Aaron Glenn says the defence must improve, particularly its third-down penalties.
Bailey was a full participant in Friday’s practice and has improved against the run, though Glenn stressed the need to contain Mahomes within the pocket. The Jets have recorded just one interception this season, but forced 10 fumbles and recovered seven; offensively, they have the NFL’s lowest red-zone touchdown rate at 42.3 per cent. Cornerback Nahshon Wright was listed as questionable with a back injury.
In short
- David Bailey returns to face Patrick Mahomes.
- The Jets have conceded at least 26 points in three consecutive defeats.
- New York has one interception and a 42.3 per cent red-zone touchdown rate.
