Google takes over unfinished Wyoming data centre project from Crusoe
Crusoe has sold its unfinished data centre project in southeastern Wyoming to Google, which will take over development. The handover followed reported concerns about the project’s cost and construction schedule under Crusoe, and highlights the challenges independent developers face in delivering very large data centre projects.
Crusoe and partner Tallgrass announced the project last year, with plans to eventually reach 10 gigawatts of power capacity. Google has not said what it paid for the site, but plans to invest $17 billion in the campus. Crusoe continues to work with Google on a separate data centre near Amarillo, Texas, and its other projects serve customers including Oracle, OpenAI and Microsoft.
