Ousted ‘GMA’ anchor Janai Norman ‘taking a break from US’ after abrupt exit
Former “Good Morning America Weekend” co-anchor Janai Norman says her family is taking a break from the US and has moved to South Africa. The move comes months after ABC declined to renew her contract, abruptly ending her role on the programme.
Norman shared glimpses of life in KwaZulu-Natal, including monkeys near the road, while promoting her forthcoming memoir, “Breaking”. She joined ABC News in 2016 and became a weekend co-anchor in 2022; after her departure, she said she had hoped to stay longer and was sorry not to have a chance to say goodbye. Norman was born in South Africa and has also criticised ABC’s coverage of stories since leaving.
