After furloughing its developers and then hiring some of them back, Star Wars Zero Company developer has laid off an unspecified number of staff
Star Wars Zero Company developer Bit Reactor has laid off an unspecified number of staff, following months of furloughs and the rehiring of some workers. The latest departures were disclosed in LinkedIn posts by several developers, highlighting continued uncertainty at the studio despite the game’s commercial success.
Those who announced they had lost their jobs include senior environment artist Ryan Lopez, UI engineer Tyler Eichten and senior quality assurance analyst Ryan Mosher. In September, up to 80% of Bit Reactor’s staff were reportedly furloughed ahead of the game’s launch; within a month, Zero Company had sold one million copies, and the studio said it had brought some staff back. CEO Greg Foertsch attributed the furloughs to unexpected business developments, but the company has not said how many people were affected by the latest layoffs.
