GTA 6’s PS5 Physical Edition Revealed in First Photo

A first photo of GTA 6’s PS5 boxed edition has appeared online, revealing that the case will contain a download code rather than a disc. The format lets buyers have a physical case, but its use of plastic without a disc raises questions about packaging waste as games move towards digital distribution.

The German edition pictured carries a notice that no disc is included. Retail boxed copies are due at shops on 12 November, giving buyers a week to pre-load the 212GB game before launch. The article describes GTA 6 as the first major release to use this “code-in-box” format and says Sony plans to stop making Blu-ray discs in 2028; a Leonidas map is sold separately for $0.99.
