Disturbing new details emerge in deaths of 2 skydivers in SoCal as victims identified
Two experienced skydivers, Levi Pimentel, 29, and Georgia Jean, 56, died after colliding in mid-air near Lake Elsinore, Southern California. Their parachutes became entangled shortly before landing, and both sustained critical injuries when they hit the ground.
The collision happened on Friday at about 160 feet above the ground, according to the skydiving company; one account placed it at around 150 feet. The company said both women were licensed, their freefall and parachute openings were normal, and there was no equipment failure. Winds gusted up to 20 mph, but it is unclear whether they contributed. Both died later at hospital.
