Too close for comfort for Arteta despite Arsenal’s fifth win in a row
Arsenal beat Hull City 1-0 to record a fifth consecutive Premier League win and extend their lead at the top to six points. Mikel Arteta praised his players’ recent run but said he wants the side to be more efficient and secure victories with less jeopardy.
Arsenal had 21 attempts but scored only once, through Martin Odegaard in the 72nd minute after Hull goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis parried Noni Madueke’s shot. It was Arsenal’s sixth league win by a single goal and their ninth victory in their first 10 games; they will enter the international break ahead of Manchester City.
In short
- Arsenal edged Hull 1-0 for a fifth straight league win.
- Odegaard scored the only goal in the 72nd minute.
- Arsenal lead Manchester City by six points.
