Path of Exile 2 Shadow class preview: Rogues do it from behind!
A preview of Path of Exile 2’s new Shadow class describes a stealth-focused rogue built around setting traps, creating shadow clones and striking before enemies can react. The class adds an assassin-style play experience to the game, with abilities that can combine for large attacks.
The writer played the Shadow for about 15 minutes at ExileCon 2026 and found its abilities complex but visually impressive. Players can turn invisible, lay traps such as poison gas and explosives, and summon clones that repeat many of their attacks; the class is due to arrive with the game’s 1.0 update on 11 December.
In short
- Shadow brings stealth and traps to Path of Exile 2.
- Clones repeat attacks and can amplify damage.
- The class launches with version 1.0 on 11 December.
Explained simply
Path of Exile 2 is an action role-playing game in which players fight through enemies, develop a character and combine skills to shape how they play. The Shadow is one of its character classes, built around stealth and quick attacks.
The class draws on the familiar rogue or assassin role: setting traps, avoiding detection and striking at vulnerable moments. Its skills include invisibility and shadow clones that repeat attacks, allowing abilities to be combined into stronger assaults.
The preview was based on a short hands-on session at ExileCon 2026. The Shadow is planned for the game’s 1.0 update, scheduled for 11 December.
