Poland In Shock As Six Dead After Mass Shooting In Krakow
A gunman opened fire in Krakow’s main square, killing six people before police shot and arrested him. The attack, which officials said may have been influenced by far-right ideology, shocked Poland and added to concerns after a series of school stabbings in October.
Police identified the alleged gunman as a 24-year-old Polish citizen with a firearms licence; reports said he used an AR-15 rifle and had other weapons and ammunition in his vehicle. Five foreign nationals from Austria, Germany, Portugal, Russia and Britain were injured, and a British citizen was among those killed. Three more bodies, believed to be members of the suspect’s family, were found at his home, where authorities warned there could be more weapons.
