Camerimage Opens With Minute Of Silence For Kraków Mass Shooting; Darren Aronofsky Honored & Luca Guadagnino Introduces ‘Artificial’
Camerimage opened its 34th festival in Toruń with a minute of silence for victims of a mass shooting in Kraków, which took place hours earlier. The ceremony also honoured filmmaker Darren Aronofsky and opened with Luca Guadagnino’s film *Artificial*, while placing artificial intelligence among the festival’s main themes.
Reports said at least six people had died and more than a dozen were injured after a gunman drove into Kraków’s Main Market Square and opened fire; Prime Minister Donald Tusk said three bodies were later found at the suspect’s home. Aronofsky received the festival’s honorary Director Award, and *Artificial*, starring Andrew Garfield as Sam Altman, is scheduled for release in the United States on 25 December and in the UK on 22 January 2027.
