WWII veteran becomes viral sensation thanks to Gen-Z neighbor
Ross Longo, a 98-year-old veteran of the Second World War and Korean War, has become popular on social media after his 26-year-old neighbour, Sevastian Munguia-Barajas, began sharing their everyday outings. Their long friendship has grown into family life: Longo, who has no relatives nearby, moved into Munguia-Barajas’s home last month.
The videos feature meals, errands and celebrations, as well as efforts to help other veterans, including donating mobility equipment and visiting a veteran living alone with cancer. Longo enlisted in the US Navy at 15 in 1943 by claiming he was older, served for six and a half years, and was deployed to Europe and Korea. A fundraising page for his care and groceries has raised more than $31,000, while fans and companies have sent letters and gifts.
