Move over, New York! Miami steals title of America’s rudest city

Miami topped a ranking of 70 US cities for online signals of rude behaviour, taking the title from New York, which placed fifth. The findings reflect complaints, discussions and searches rather than how residents behave in everyday life, so the ranking is a snapshot of online activity, not a verdict on a city’s people.

Miami scored 94.11 out of 100, ahead of Las Vegas on 91.84, Memphis on 88.38 and Oakland on 87.10. New York had the highest share of Yelp reviews mentioning rudeness, at 3.34%, while Miami recorded the most related internet searches per 10,000 residents, at 28.41. Irvine ranked as the least rude city, with a score of 1.91.
