Riyadh financial district targeted, Aramco tower damaged
Saudi Arabia says Yemen’s Houthis attempted to attack an administrative building belonging to Aramco in Riyadh, causing minor damage when shrapnel fell. No injuries or deaths were reported. The incident raises concern because the building is in the King Abdullah Financial District, and a strike there would mark a major escalation in the conflict.
A witness said several floors and part of the tower’s facade appeared damaged. Saudi Arabia’s coalition spokesperson said air defences intercepted two ballistic missiles launched towards Riyadh, where explosions were heard. The attacks come amid renewed fighting after a 2022 truce collapsed in July; the UN says more than 1,600 people have been killed and over 300,000 displaced in Yemen since fighting resumed.

- Shrapnel caused minor damage to an Aramco building in Riyadh.
