Anthropic secures $3.4 billion generator deal for AI data centers, FT reports
Anthropic has agreed a deal worth about US$3.4 billion to secure gas-fired generators for its data centres, according to a Financial Times report. The arrangement would help the AI company expand the electricity supply needed to run its growing computing capacity.
The reported deal covers commitments for 1.7 gigawatts of heavy-duty generators, bought in late September from Texas-based supplier OnePWR Solutions. Anthropic did not acquire OnePWR or take on its employees, though the agreement reportedly includes engineering and construction capabilities to install the equipment. Reuters said it could not independently verify the report; Anthropic and OnePWR did not respond to requests for comment. Anthropic has said it expects to spend more than US$500 billion on AI infrastructure over the next decade.
In short
- Anthropic reportedly secured US$3.4 billion in gas-fired generators.
- The equipment commitments total 1.7 gigawatts.
