The Strokes Join SNL Five-Timers Club With Dazzling Visuals and Walton Goggins
The Strokes made their fifth appearance on *Saturday Night Live*, joining the show’s Five-Timers Club with two performances that paired elaborate lighting and surreal, green screen-assisted visuals with a visible show of support for Palestine. Walton Goggins also made an unexpected appearance, joining the band on bongos during “Going Shopping”.
The New York band performed “Lonely in the Future” and “Going Shopping” while promoting their latest album, *Reality Awaits*. A Palestinian flag was displayed on drummer Fabrizio Moretti’s drumhead. Guitarist Nick Valensi, who has been on leave since earlier this year for undisclosed reasons, was absent; the band has also released a video for “Lonely in the Future” featuring puppet versions of Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg and Jeff Bezos.
