Kurt Vile Brings Out Ethan Buckler For A King Kong Song In Louisville
Kurt Vile brought out Ethan Buckler, a Louisville musician known for Slint and King Kong, to perform King Kong’s “Old Man On The Bridge” during Vile’s show at Headliners on Friday, 6 November. The hometown performance gave the song a celebratory moment after it had previously been mocked on late-night television.
Buckler also sang backing vocals on “Chance To Bleed”, the lead single from Vile’s latest album, *Philadelphia's been good to me*. Earlier that week, Vile and the Violators performed “99 BPM” on *The Tonight Show*. Years earlier, Jimmy Fallon’s “Do Not Play” segment had poked fun at “Old Man On The Bridge”, but Fallon and Questlove soon warmed to it.
