Onimusha: Way of the Sword release date gets moved forward

Polygon · 6 days ago

Capcom's Onimusha: Way of the Sword, an action-adventure RPG set in ancient Kyoto centred on samurai combat against supernatural creatures, has advanced its release date by three weeks to September 4, 2026. The shift also recalibrates the window for pre-purchase bonuses, which now function as an "early adopted bonus" available across all platforms through late September, featuring cosmetic items such as charm accessories and weapon appearance skins.

The earlier launch eliminates scheduling conflicts with other anticipated releases like Silent Hill: Townfall and Control Resonant, whilst providing players space to complete the game before Grand Theft Auto 6's November arrival. Capcom is supporting the launch with a freely available demo on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC, which grants players an exclusive cosmetic reward upon the full game's release.

  • Capcom accelerates Onimusha: Way of the Sword release from September 25 to September 4, 2026
  • Early-purchase cosmetic bonuses extended through September 24; playable demo available now on PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC platforms
  • New date avoids conflicts with other major releases and allows completion before Grand Theft Auto 6 launches in November
