U2 – “Street Of Dreams”
U2 have released a new single, "Street Of Dreams", billed as the lead track from an as-yet-unannounced album due out later this year. It matters because the record would be the band's first collection of new material in nine years, since 2017's Songs Of Experience, following a long stretch of largely retrospective activity.
Produced by Jacknife Lee, the single arrives after U2's surprise release of two Lent-timed EPs this year, Days Of Ash and Easter Lily. The accompanying video, directed by Cliqua, was shot in May in Mexico City's Plaza Santo Domingo, with the four members performing atop a bus before a lively crowd. The band's plans remain somewhat unclear, given Bono spoke in 2022 of an album called Songs Of Ascent and a separate AC/DC-style rock record, though the new single does not resemble either description.
