Qarabag’s Duran poised for Celtic medical
Celtic forward signing Camilo Duran is set to undergo a medical to become the Scottish champions' first summer arrival, manager Martin O'Neill has confirmed. The 24-year-old Colombian is joining from Azerbaijani side Qarabag for an undisclosed fee, and his impending capture eases fan concerns that the club had been slow to strengthen while title rivals Hearts and Rangers made numerous additions.
Duran spent less than a year at Qarabag after arriving from Portuguese club Portimonense, but caught the eye with five goals in 10 Champions League appearances and 15 goals plus 10 assists across 48 games last season. O'Neill, speaking before Celtic's pre-season friendly against Shelbourne in Dublin, said the medical was under way and indicated further signings would follow in the coming weeks as the club looks to improve its squad.
