Researchers claim they’ve created healthier burgers that taste as good as a Big Mac
Stanford University researchers have developed an artificial intelligence system called BurgerAI to create novel burger recipes. The team trained the AI on a dataset of 2,216 existing burger recipes from Food.com, enabling the algorithm to identify flavour and ingredient patterns and generate new combinations.
When tested against a reconstructed version of McDonald's Big Mac in blind taste evaluations, several of the AI-generated burgers achieved ratings equal to or higher than the well-known fast-food classic. The results suggest that machine learning approaches to recipe development may produce commercially competitive products.
