Prime Video’s Tomb Raider Reboot Gets Glowing Endorsement From Video Game Star
Amazon's Prime Video has secured a public endorsement for its forthcoming Tomb Raider television series, part of a wider push by the platform to acquire major entertainment franchises. The reboot will star Game of Thrones actor Sophie Turner as Lara Croft, with Fleabag creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge attached as creator, writer and co-showrunner, signalling significant investment in reviving the long-running property.
Turner said she had been a long-time fan of the franchise and described Lara Croft as a "fierce female role model" who felt emboldened in a male-dominated world. The series also features Sigourney Weaver, Jason Isaacs, Martin Bobb-Semple and Jack Bannon, and follows a deal between Amazon and Crystal Dynamics to launch a new era of games, beginning with Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis in February 2027. Alix Wilton Regan, known for Cyberpunk 2077, will voice and perform as Lara Croft in the new game. The move comes alongside Amazon's $1 billion acquisition of the James Bond franchise.
