Japanese kawaii-metalcore band Hanabie. have released a new track titled 'Life Is Short, O Brave Girl', which will serve as the opening theme for the forthcoming anime 'Young Ladies Don't Play Fighting Games'. The song blends the band's trademark cute ("kawaii") elements with heavy metalcore, and has been written specifically to reflect the anime's themes, marking the group's latest release following an active start to 2026.

The accompanying anime, based on a popular manga series, follows Girls' Academy student Mitsuki Aya, who discovers that her admired, refined classmate is secretly a competitive, trash-talking fighting-game fan; the pair bond over gaming despite the academy's ban, sparking both rivalry and friendship. Band member Yukina said she read the original manga and immersed herself in its world while writing, weaving in references fans will recognise and drawing on her own rebellious youth at an all-girls school playing in a band.
