Disney has officially greenlit "The Cheetah Girls: Next Gen", a new film for Disney Channel and Disney+, with original stars Raven-Symoné and Adrienne Bailon reprising their roles as Galleria and Chanel. The reboot revives a franchise that began in 2003 and marks Raven-Symoné's second recent return to a Disney Channel character, following six seasons of "Raven's Home". A younger ensemble will take up the mantle as the next generation of Cheetah Girls, extending the brand to a new audience.

The story follows Galleria and Chanel travelling to Africa with Galleria's daughter Faith (Leah Sava' Jeffries) and her three friends to volunteer at a wildlife sanctuary, where the teens ultimately save the preserve and take the stage. Returning cast include Sabrina Bryan in a special appearance as Dorinda, plus Lynn Whitfield and Lori Alter, while Sophia Bush joins as Jennifré; Kiely Williams is not attached. Debra Martin Chase and Raven-Symoné executive produce, Bille Woodruff directs from a script by Kara Holden, Sarah Watson and Deborah Swisher, and production begins later this month in South Africa.
