New Fallout Game Officially Coming After 10+ Year Wait

Collider · 4 hours ago

According to a new report, Obsidian Entertainment — the studio behind the acclaimed 2010 role-playing game Fallout: New Vegas — is set to return to the Fallout franchise with a brand-new title, nearly 16 years on. Xbox has reportedly moved the studio onto the project under the direction of New Vegas director Josh Sawyer, reuniting a celebrated creative team with the series it helped shape. For many fans, it is the announcement they have hoped for since 2010.

The move is said to form part of Microsoft's wider Xbox restructuring, which includes roughly 3,200 job cuts and several cancelled projects, among them a planned sequel to 2025's Avowed. Sawyer had reportedly been leading an original RPG with themes similar to Fallout, which Xbox has now redirected into an official franchise title. The project is described as being in its early stages, with plans still liable to change, and Bethesda is said to be collaborating. An Xbox spokesperson declined to comment. Renewed interest follows the success of Prime Video's Fallout series, now filming its third season.
