Exclusive: Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader Receives Massive Patch On Switch 2, All DLC Now Free

Nintendo Life · 1 month ago

Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader launched in a poor state on Switch 2, earning a 4/10 "borderline disaster" review from Nintendo Life over stuttering frame rates, long load times, laggy controls, graphical downgrades and hard crashes. Developer Owlcat Games is now rolling out a major update aimed at fixing these problems, saying it is "determined to make amends", which matters as a rare high-profile attempt to rescue a botched console launch and rebuild player trust.

The patch, due to go live at 4pm BST / 8am PDT / 11am EDT, targets bug fixes, visual and presentation improvements and performance optimisation for greater stability. As an apology, Owlcat is making all additional content free for Switch 2 owners, including the Digital Deluxe extras and DLC expansions; the first two, Void Shadows and Lex Imperialis, are available now, with the third and fourth to follow later. Reader comments were largely positive about the gesture, though some remained sceptical, arguing that games should not be released in an unplayable state in the first place.
