Developer Cold Symmetry has confirmed that its Soulslike sequel, Mortal Shell 2, will launch on PlayStation 5 on 20th August 2026, deliberately arriving a few weeks ahead of the crowded September release period. Pitched as a "standalone sequel" that does not require having played the original, the game promises faster, unforgiving combat, deeper weapon design with extensive upgrade options, and free exploration across a compact open world.

Pre-orders are now live on the PS Store, with the base version priced at £44.99 / $49.99 and a Devout Edition costing an extra £5 / $10, which adds three days of early access and the Obsidian skin set giving each of the eight Shells an additional outfit. To coincide with the announcement, the first Mortal Shell is currently discounted by 90% on the PS Store, dropping it to £2.49 / $2.99.
