DoorDash deactivates driver accused of stealing DHS food orders after viral post

Fox News · 1 month ago

DoorDash has deactivated the account of a delivery driver accused of deliberately cancelling and redirecting food orders that were destined for a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) facility, describing the alleged conduct as "theft." The company acted on Wednesday after screenshots of the driver's boasts circulated widely online, drawing attention to how gig-economy platforms respond to workers who let political views affect their duties.

The accusations were amplified by the conservative account Libs of TikTok, which posted screenshots said to be from a Buffalo-area driver using the Threads handle "nixxslingerland." The driver reportedly wrote about dropping off a "cancelled nazi DoorDash" order at their "free pantry," professed love for communism, and said they repeatedly asked support to remove a nearby detention centre and felt good getting its orders cancelled and the food donated. DoorDash said misusing the "safety-unassign" feature to cancel and redirect orders based on their destination breached its Community Guidelines and Platform Access Policy, and that the driver was separately abusive towards a support agent.
