Helldivers 2 is getting a new anti-cheater policy to stop you feeling bummed out and help the in-game economy
Arrowhead Game Studios has announced a new anti-cheating policy for Helldivers 2, responding to long-standing community frustration over players amassing Super Credits through illegitimate means. The move matters because cheating undermines the game's in-game economy and makes honest players feel their effort is devalued when others game the system.
Starting from the day of the announcement, the game can detect when someone is earning credits at an unreasonably high rate — substantially above the highest legitimate totals ever recorded — and take steps to counter it. The studio says the targets are cheaters, botters, and those using automation and duplication exploits, and that ordinary fast earners have nothing to worry about. Arrowhead claims it can stop offenders "at the source" so falsely earned credits become unusable, though it has not explained how the tools work. The measures will also extend to other reward currencies, including Medals, Samples and Requisition.
