The Welsh singer Bonnie Tyler has died at the age of 75. Her death was announced in a short statement on her official website, which said her family and team were "heartbroken" that she had "unexpectedly passed away" in a hospital in Portugal as a result of an illness for which she had been receiving treatment. The statement asked for privacy, adding that a further update would be issued shortly.

Tyler had been undergoing treatment for some time before her death. In May, she was placed into a medically induced coma at a hospital in Faro, Portugal, after undergoing emergency intestinal surgery, with a spokesperson saying at the time that the step had been taken by her doctors to aid her recovery. She had been due to perform at the Sunshine Festival in Worcester this summer, among other planned appearances.
