New save vs. old save: Which one should you use in Palworld 1.0

Destructoid · 2 months ago

Palworld has launched its full 1.0 version, bringing new locations, Pals, NPCs, quests and a range of gameplay changes, and prompting a common question for returning players: whether to continue an existing save or begin a fresh one. Developer Pocketpair has advised everyone to start anew, but the article argues there are genuine trade-offs on both sides, so the right choice depends largely on how much progress a player has already made.

Starting fresh is recommended for newcomers or those with only a few hours played, as the updated and more streamlined storyline should make progression quicker while helping players learn new mechanics such as Mutation; the level cap has also risen from 65 to 80. Continuing an old save, by contrast, gives immediate access to all content — including the revamped endgame, reworked Sanctuaries and the new Sunreach Island — without repeating the early grind, though players may need to pick up new concepts unaided. The author has chosen to keep their old save given how much they had already completed.

  • Palworld 1.0 is out with new areas, Pals and quests.
  • Newcomers should start fresh; the level cap is now 80.
  • Veterans can keep old saves for instant access to all content.
