Until now, games could earn a Verified, Playable or Unsupported rating for the Steam Machine, but the results were not displayed publicly, meaning titles that had passed testing could not show it. Overnight, the information appeared alongside the existing Steam Deck verification details, giving buyers of the SteamOS box a way to gauge how well their Windows-made games will run.

The Steam Machine ratings currently sit within the store page's Steam Deck Compatibility section, which the article notes is a slightly awkward place to find them. Examples include Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced and the newly released Palworld 1.0 both earning full Verified status, while Valve's own Dota 2 lands on Playable, marked down for inaccurate controller icons and occasional reliance on an onscreen keyboard. Valve's forthcoming Steam Frame VR headset, the last part of its 2026 hardware line-up, will also get its own verification programme, though its Android-style ARM chip adds complications, requiring a compatibility layer called FEX to run x86 games.
