Cage the Elephant Signs With Big Loud Rock

Billboard · 4 hours ago

Grammy Award-winning rock band Cage the Elephant have signed a label deal with Big Loud Rock, the rock/alternative imprint of Big Loud Records, and have simultaneously released "Beaches in Tennessee", their first new music in two years. The signing marks what the band describe as a "new chapter" and reflects a renewed creative energy, with Big Loud president Joey Moi praising the group's willingness to keep taking risks two decades into their career.

The Kentucky-formed six-piece — fronted by Matt Shultz — has won two Grammys for best rock album (2015's Tell Me I'm Pretty and 2019's Social Cues) and earned 13 No. 1 hits on Billboard's Alternative Airplay chart. The new single was produced by Justin Raisen and SADPONY (Jeremiah Raisen) after the band returned to the studio following a stint as special guests on Oasis Live '25. Matt Shultz explained that the song offers a fictionalised account of the mental health crisis that saw him hospitalised for nearly three months a few years ago, framing the difficult experience in a lighthearted way as a means of moving past it.
