Cage The Elephant Release Single “Beaches in Tennessee”: Stream

Cage The Elephant have released "Beaches in Tennessee," their first new music in two years since the 2024 album Neon Pill. The garage rock single is built around brothers Matt and Brad Shultz's overdriven guitar and vocal melodies, and marks a notable moment as the band's return following a signing to record label Big Loud Rock.

Written by vocalist Matt Shultz and guitarist Brad Shultz and produced by Justin and Jeremiah Raisen, the track deals with heavy subject matter presented in a lighthearted way. Frontman Matt Shultz explained that the song draws on his mental health crisis a few years ago, when he was hospitalised for nearly three months, and represents a fictionalised account of that experience and his moving past it. He described the release as reclaiming the ability to write about a difficult real-life event, and expressed hope that it might help others.
