Richard Gere-Produced Dalai Lama Documentary ‘Wisdom of Happiness’ Lands at Music Box Films (EXCLUSIVE)
Music Box Films has acquired the North American home entertainment rights to "Wisdom of Happiness," the documentary executive-produced by Richard Gere in which the Dalai Lama reflects on compassion, inner peace and the challenges of modern life. The deal, unveiled to coincide with the Dalai Lama's 91st birthday, will bring the film to premium digital video-on-demand platforms across North America from 15 September, with pre-orders already open and DVD and Blu-ray releases to follow at a later date.
Directed by Swiss filmmakers Barbara Miller and Philip Delaquis, the film presents an intimate portrait of the Dalai Lama speaking directly to viewers about achieving lasting happiness and balancing Tibetan Buddhist traditions with contemporary values. Executive-produced by Gere and Oren Moverman, it premiered at the Zurich Film Festival in 2024 and became an international box-office success, staying in Switzerland's top 10 for seven consecutive weeks, before Abramorama released it theatrically across more than 175 North American locations in 2025. The home entertainment deal was negotiated by Brian Andreotti for Music Box Films and Jason Resnick of Autlook, which handles worldwide sales, on behalf of the filmmakers.
