Morgan Spector is in negotiations to play symbologist Robert Langdon in a forthcoming Netflix series based on Dan Brown's 2025 novel "The Secret of Secrets", with Rebecca Hall in talks to take the female lead. Ordered by Netflix in May 2025, the project marks a fresh screen incarnation of a hugely popular literary character previously portrayed by Tom Hanks in Ron Howard's films, and would place Spector in a major franchise lead while he continues to appear on HBO's "The Gilded Age". Netflix declined to comment on the casting.
Dan Brown and Carlton Cuse serve as co-creators and executive producers, with Cuse acting as showrunner under his Genre Arts banner alongside fellow executive producer Emma Forman. The series' logline describes Langdon racing against "ancient forces and time" to rescue a missing scientist, played by Hall, and her groundbreaking manuscript. The Langdon novels have sold more than 250 million copies in 56 languages; three earlier titles were adapted into films that grossed over $2.2 billion, while a "Lost Symbol" series aired for one season on Peacock in 2021.
