Samsung and Microsoft are ending their cloud storage integration, with OneDrive sync through the Samsung Gallery app set to be fully discontinued as of October 1, 2026. This partnership had provided Galaxy device owners with a practical alternative to Google's ecosystem, offering a direct backup pathway between their phones and OneDrive, with seamless access across Windows PCs and Samsung smart appliances. The companies have issued advance notice to users through on-device prompts, giving them time to relocate their files before the feature disappears.

Whilst the direct integration will cease, users retain the ability to back up photos to Microsoft's cloud service through the standalone OneDrive application available on Google Play. Files already uploaded to OneDrive will remain accessible through Microsoft's interface, though they will no longer automatically appear within the Gallery app or synchronise to Samsung televisions and smart home devices. Samsung has already begun removing the OneDrive sync option from Galaxy devices in advance of the official deadline, streamlining its cloud backup approach moving forward.
