“This is our Spider-Man 3” – Soulfame’s Warsong update adds “edgelord” progression path later this year
Digital Extremes has unveiled a lengthy new gameplay trailer for its fantasy action game Soulframe, showcasing its next major update, Warsong, which is due to arrive later this year. The update introduces a new story quest known as the Warsong Fable, featuring actor Ben Starr as antagonist Tempest Bayor, and delves into the player character's tragic past, their blue-armed Envoy powers, and the cloud-dwelling enemy faction known as the Ode. Developers described the update in a press preview as "our Spider-Man 3 for Soulframe", a nod to its darker, edgier tone.
Central to the update is the corrupted Vadagar pact — Soulframe's equivalent of a class — which was dubbed an "edgelord pact" at TennoCon and grants darker abilities tied to the Ode's deities of Wrath, Doom and Death. Warsong also adds long-requested rideable mounts, including giant wolves and a corrupted horse, plus a "vegan" fishing mini-game in which caught fish are released back into the water in keeping with the game's nature-preservation themes. The content is slated for release some time this "Fallish", with players able to sign up for the ongoing Preludes test; those who joined before 12th July are guaranteed continued access. There is still no confirmed date for Soulframe's 1.0 launch, as it remains in closed beta.
