In the Guardian's "honest playlist" feature, The Cribs bassist and singer Gary Jarman shares the songs that have shaped his life, from childhood favourites to the track he would like played at his funeral. The piece is a light-hearted, personal insight into the musician's tastes, released to coincide with The Cribs' UK tour.

Jarman's selections span decades and genres, including Only You by the Flying Pickets (the band's walk-on song), his first single Somewhere in My Heart by Aztec Camera, and a youthful Bee Gees obsession. He names In Bloom by Nirvana as the song that changed his life, admits a guilty love of Jennifer Rush's The Power of Love, and picks Unchained Melody by the Righteous Brothers as the song he associates with his Patrick Swayze and Ghost fantasies. He would like George Harrison's Be Here Now at his funeral, joking that the Replacements' "Gary's Got a Boner" would be too rude. The Cribs' UK tour begins in Leeds on 11 July.
