Daytime Emmys Announce 2026 Nominations (UPDATING)

Variety · 2 months ago

The 53rd annual Daytime Emmy nominations were announced on 13 July 2026, administered by the New York-based National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS). Early nominees included the recently ended talk shows "The Kelly Clarkson Show" (nominated for talk series and talk host) and "Sherri" (nominated for talk host), with the awards recognising daytime dramas, talk series, entertainment news, culinary, adventure, instructional and legal/courtroom programming.

The ceremony has moved from its former June slot to a single event on Friday 30 October 2026 in Los Angeles, with the Lifetime Achievement honouree, Gold & Silver Circle inductees and host to be confirmed later. This year's nominations follow a series of rule changes introduced in spring 2026, including episode-based submissions allowing multiple nominations per programme, a sliding scale for how many nominees each category receives based on submission numbers, a new eligibility threshold for the guest actor category, elimination of the science and nature category, and daytime dramas now competing alongside non-fiction programmes in most categories.
