‘Kong x Godzilla’ Ride Set to Open at Korea’s Lotte World This Month: It’s ‘Extremely Immersive’ (EXCLUSIVE)
Legendary Entertainment is opening its first-ever theme park attraction, "Kong x Godzilla" at Lotte World in Seoul, on 24 July, marking the studio's entry into location-based entertainment after years of development. The ride positions the MonsterVerse franchise as a major draw at Lotte World, which is undergoing renovation and has made the Legendary property the centrepiece of that overhaul, according to Legendary executive James Ngo.
Ngo said the attraction had been a personal priority since he joined Legendary nine years ago, with both licensing deals and construction taking considerable time to arrange. The MonsterVerse franchise, spanning five films that have grossed more than $2.5 billion globally, is due to expand further with a sixth instalment, "Godzilla x Kong: Supernova," in March 2027, alongside the ongoing Apple TV+ series "Monarch: Legacy of Monsters." Ngo described the ride as an immersive experience in which guests are recruited into the fictional Monarch organisation before boarding a "Hollow Earth Aerial Vehicle" to encounter Kong.

Explained simply
The MonsterVerse is a series of films and television stories about giant monsters, including Godzilla and Kong. The films have earned more than $2.5 billion worldwide, and the franchise also includes the Apple TV+ series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters.
Legendary Entertainment makes the MonsterVerse films and has spent years arranging its first theme park attraction. The ride is at Lotte World, a major theme park in Seoul, where the attraction is part of a wider renovation.
In the story world, Monarch is an organisation that investigates giant creatures, and Hollow Earth is a hidden world beneath the Earth’s surface. The ride uses these ideas to place visitors inside the franchise, as its next film is planned for 2027.
