Lily Seabird – “Portal To The Past”
Burlington-based singer-songwriter Lily Seabird has unveiled 'Portal To The Past', a seven-minute alt-country composition from her anticipated album Lightspheres On Their Way. The release follows positive reception for earlier singles including 'Election Day', which featured on Stereogum's weekly best-of-week list, establishing momentum heading into the full album release.
Seabird drew inspiration for the track from a poem written after experiencing a vivid dream on a friend's porch in New Orleans, which she credits with infusing the work with distinctive emotional resonance. The song examines how prolonged reflection on past experiences can create a psychological return to earlier moments in time, with dwelling on memories functioning as a gateway back through one's own history. The album will be distributed in physical format on 4 September and across digital platforms on 2 October.
