‘Comedy Invasion’ Alums Alisha Dhillon, Quentin Lee Reunite for Vertical Series ‘Unleeshed’ (EXCLUSIVE)

Variety · 1 month ago

Alisha Dhillon and Quentin Lee, who previously worked together on the award-winning “Comedy Invasion”, are reuniting for a new vertical series called “Unleeshed”. Dhillon wrote the project and will also star in it, while Lee is co-creator, executive producer and director. The series matters because it will be the first original vertical drama commissioned by Asian American Movies (AAM.tv), signalling the platform’s push into short-form mobile-first storytelling and giving a prominent spotlight to a South Asian comedian’s story.

The first season follows a South Asian stand-up comic and aspiring actor in Los Angeles who pauses her ambitions to care for her ill father back home, while struggling with self-doubt. Production is due to begin in August 2026, with a worldwide exclusive launch on AAM.tv planned for November, around Thanksgiving 2026. Dhillon previously wrote and starred in the “Comedy Invasion” episode “Woman of Ganja”, which Lee created and directed and which won the Canadian Screen Award for Best Comedy Special in 2024. Dhillon’s recent comedy credentials include being a finalist in the 2025 San Francisco Comedy Competition, while Lee’s company Margin Films, founded in 1996, is producing the series as it marks its 30th year.
