Roadworks to bring 18 weeks of disruption to Crookes

Cadent, the gas network operator that supplies British Gas customers, has confirmed essential maintenance work on a main road through Sheffield's Crookes district, near Lydgate Lane, running for around 18 weeks from 27 July. Temporary traffic management will be in place throughout on a route heavily used by commuters, meaning residents and drivers face months of likely disruption.
The scheme involves installing multi-way traffic lights, which is expected to cause noticeable delays for road users passing through the area. Cadent has already erected electronic warning boards at key junctions, including one near the Grindstone pub close to Lydgate Lane, to give drivers advance notice ahead of the works starting.

Cadent is the company responsible for maintaining much of the gas pipe network in the Midlands and North West, including parts of Sheffield. Gas pipes need regular inspection, repair and replacement to help keep supplies safe and reliable for homes and businesses.
