Interscope-Capitol Records has announced that HOLE's 1994 album "Live Through This" will join its Definitive Sound Series, a premium audiophile vinyl reissue line. The edition is notable for being the first vinyl pressing sourced from the album's original analogue master tapes, which were long thought lost until guitarist Eric Erlandson recently rediscovered them in storage. This matters because it offers fans and collectors a version of one of the defining alternative rock records of the 1990s with sound quality closer to the original studio mix than any previous release.

The limited-edition All-Analog 180g One Step LP is limited to 3,000 numbered copies, mastered by Chris Bellman and pressed on high-definition vinyl, and will be available from 24 September, with pre-orders now open. It comes housed in a custom slipcase with the original artwork, a heavyweight tip-on jacket featuring Erlandson's account of finding the tapes, and a new eight-page booklet. "Live Through This" was HOLE's platinum-certified second album, spawning tracks such as "Miss World", "Doll Parts" and "Violet", and joins previous Definitive Sound Series titles including works by Marvin Gaye, The Beach Boys and Dr. Dre.
