Ubisoft confirms New Game Plus in development for Black Flag Resynced
Ubisoft is developing a New Game Plus mode for Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, following the game's strong sales performance. Game director Richard Knight confirmed the feature is in early development during an interview with YouTuber JorRaptor, saying it was one of the first things the studio began working on after finishing the main game. The move mirrors Assassin's Creed Shadows, which received New Game Plus shortly after its own launch, though Ubisoft has not given a timeline or roadmap for Black Flag Resynced.
Knight said the studio is drawing inspiration from Shadows' version, which is considered "low-risk" since it has already been built once, though he cautioned the two games differ substantially in structure, meaning the feature could be harder to replicate. Details such as unique rewards are still under discussion, with production considerations including item modes and cloth simulation yet to be finalised. The news comes as Black Flag Resynced posts the best Steam launch of any game in the series' history, a success made bittersweet by Ubisoft's recent layoffs at its Barcelona studio, which contributed to the game and whose staff are currently on a three-day strike.
