Ubisoft has confirmed that a New Game Plus mode is in development for Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, following the game's strong commercial launch. Game director Richard Knight revealed the news in a lengthy interview, noting the feature was one of the first things the team began work on once the main game was finished, though no release date or timeline has been set.

Knight said the studio is drawing on Assassin's Creed Shadows, which already has its own New Game Plus mode, calling it a "low-risk feature" to replicate, though the two games differ substantially and Black Flag Resynced's structure makes implementation trickier, especially since the original Black Flag never had such a mode. Details remain undecided, including whether unique rewards will be included, as production discussions continue over cost and design work. The news comes as Black Flag Resynced posts the best Steam launch of any game in the series, a success overshadowed by Ubisoft's layoffs at its Barcelona studio, which contributed to the game and whose staff are currently on a three-day strike in protest.
