Apple’s OLED iPad Mini upgrade is on the way as prices continue to rise
Apple is reportedly preparing an OLED display upgrade for the iPad Mini, potentially launching as soon as October 2026, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. It would mark the biggest overhaul of the device since its 2021 redesign, but is expected to arrive alongside a further price increase, continuing a trend of Apple raising costs across its product lines.
The current iPad Mini already rose in price by $100 last month as part of a broader lineup-wide hike, which Tim Cook attributed to an ongoing RAM shortage he suggested could persist for years. Beyond the Mini, Gurman reports Apple is planning updates to the iPad Air and base iPad for early next year, with the Air eventually gaining an OLED screen and the base model getting a modest processor refresh. Updates to the iPad Pro and Apple Pencil are also tipped for spring 2027.
