Music supervisors are once again using carefully chosen soundtracks as a storytelling device, echoing the early-2000s heyday of shows like The OC and Grey's Anatomy, but the shift to global streaming platforms means these placements now translate into far bigger and faster chart impact than cable TV ever achieved.

Off Campus, based on the bestselling romance book series and soundtracked by music supervisors Amanda Krieg Thomas and Anna Romanoff, has proven especially transformative for newer artists such as G Flip, The Beaches and Remi Wolf since premiering in March 2026. According to Luminate, official on-demand US streams of featured songs rose by as much as 46,000% in the month after episodes aired compared with the week before. Other shows have similarly revived older tracks, such as Kate Bush's "Running Up That Hill" and The Cramps' "Goo Goo Muck", to unforeseen chart peaks.
