Crystal Ship Studios, located near Attercliffe in Sheffield, has submitted a planning application to expand its music facilities. The venue currently operates three recording studios and fifteen rehearsal rooms within a converted engineering building and has become known for hosting major acts including Arctic Monkeys, Richard Hawley, Reverend and the Makers, and The Vaccines, as well as producer Ross Orton.

The expansion proposal aims to address persistent demand for musician workspace in Sheffield. The studios maintain full occupancy with approximately ten musicians and bands currently on a waiting list, demonstrating undersupply of rehearsal facilities. The proposed extension would add another floor dedicated to rehearsal rooms. Located near the M1 motorway, the venue serves both local emerging talent and touring bands, establishing it as an important part of Sheffield's cultural and creative economy.
