Amazon MGM and Sony Pictures will recast Kratos in their Prime Video God of War adaptation after Ryan Hurst reportedly tore his bicep while performing a stunt in Vancouver. The injury required surgery and halted production, creating another setback for a series that has already changed showrunners; filming is now expected to resume in October 2026.

Hurst reportedly gained 40 pounds for the role, but his recovery is expected to extend beyond the originally hoped-for mid-August return. No replacement has been named, while the existing cast includes Callum Vinson as Atreus, Ed Skrein as Baldur, Mandy Patinkin as Odin and Ólafur Darri Ólafsson as Thor; the show has no release date.
